Arab League Director-General Amr Moussa on Saturday announced he is backing PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ (Abu Mazen) return to diplomatic talks with Israel, a statement that was met with delight by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
American officials are already signaling talks will most likely resume this week, not wishing to waste any time.
Arab League officials are indicating that there are no changes in the conditions set forth in March, namely the time frame and the fact that the talks will be indirect, not wishing to sit at the negotiating table with Israel without third party involvement.
Senior PA official Dr. Saeb Erekat has released a statement announced “If Israel builds a single house in the West Bank, the talks will halt”, sending a clear signal the entire approval is designed to then call the talks off, hoping to increase diplomatic pressure on Israel.
In Jerusalem, officials have indicated a return to negotiations, which broke off during the previous Olmert administration, must be without any preconditions.

The longer the talks are stalled the longer it will be before Israel gives away more land for more terror and the better off Israel will be.
Why in the world is Israel begging to return to the negotiating table? Are they nuts?!! They should build anywhere they want especially in (east)Jerusalem. They should put the arabs on the defensive, threaten them that if one more rocket flies in Israel talks would be halted immediatley and building would blossom in every corner of the country. A added fringe benefit, any rock-throwing attack (of which there has been many lately) or any other attack would result in closure of arab workers from entering Israel and additional checkpoints.
