Thousands are making their way to Meron and nearby Tzfas for shabbos ahead of Lag B’Omer. Police expect over 400,000 people to visit the area over the Lab B’Omer weekend. 4,000 police are assigned to the area. Magen David Adom reports that 150 paramedics and EMTs are standing by along with 10 ambulances, including two advanced life support units. There are also two first aid stations. Also present in large numbers will be volunteers from Ichud Hatzalah and Zaka, all standing by in the event of a medical emergency.
The roads leading to Meron are closed to the general public and persons coming in private vehicles will be compelled to leave their vehicle in one of the designated parking lots along the route.
Yeshivos in Tzfas and the area are closing their doors before shabbos, announcing that anyone who is not a talmid in a particular yeshiva will not be permitted in. some have hired security guards to prevent people from crashing over shabbos, aware of the shortage of affordable lodging ahead of Lag B’Omer.
