Additional security is being provided for Deputy IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, IDF officials confirm. Security agents from the General Staff’s protection unit have been assigned to the deputy chief, but officials add this is not due to any concrete specific threat, but in response to a periodic situation assessment, explaining since the elimination of deputy Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyeh, precautions have been stepped up for a number of senior IDF commanders.

No explanation is given why the additional security precautions were implemented now, over a year since the terrorist commander was killed.
