Dr. Ittai Gavrieli of the Israel Geological Institute announced on Sunday that the ‘meteor’ that landed on a beach over the weekend was actually a man-made item, something containing a very high level of phosphorus, accounting for its burning properties.

When the object landed on the Bat Yam beach, police were receiving calls for an UFO, and lifeguards explained that despite placing it in the water numerous times, they were unable to extinguish the flame.
