Tuesday News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


Among the 120 IDF soldiers and officers who received a citation from President Peres on Independence Day were 65 combat soldiers/officers. Included in the group are new immigrants from 16 different countries.

**A man was stabbed to death by his son in the Givat Shmuel area of Tel Aviv. The man was pronounced dead in Tel Hashomer Hospital. The son is in custody.

**A closure remains in place today, Independence Day, as hundreds of thousands of Israelis head for nature reserves and parks to enjoy a holiday hike or picnic.

**The IAF at 11:00am held a flyover, with its aerial acrobatics team flying over many cities.

**El Al reports the resumption of flights to England and France.

**Three people were injured in a brawl in the Bedouin community of Rahat.

**Police arrested 9 people involved in a brawl in the Kinneret area.

**Many IDF bases around Israel are open to visitors on Independence Day.
