A court on Thursday removed a gag order permitting the publication of news that former Prime Minister and Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert is the ‘senior official’ suspected of accepting NIS hundreds of thousands in the ongoing Holyland project investigation.
Police also suspect that as a result of the handsome bribes given to officials, the project was constructed 1,200% larger than permitted in the original plan.
The former prime minister is to be questioned ‘under warning’ by police, signaling that a criminal indictment is expected down the line. Mr. Olmert is currently on trial in a number of fraud/bribery related cases dating back to his tenure in various government positions.
