Beginning April 1, 2017, all vehicles used to transport school children will have to have a system installed intended to prevent forgetting children on board. This will be mandatory for a vehicle to be licensed to transport children.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz signed on the new regulation, adding the minister encouraged the Standards Institute to approve some of these items towards permitting citizens to install them in private vehicles as well.

The minister explains he decided against compelling the system in all vehicle in Israel for it would be an unnecessary expense for many, those who do not transport small children.
