At the end of the stormy Knesset session on Wednesday 10 Adar, the Muezzin bill was passed in its preliminary reading. While the shouts of opposition from the Arab MKs were audible, one objection was heard across the border, in Jordan.
The word from Jordan is that if Israel dares to pass the bill into law and implement it, it would be a gross violation of the peace agreement signed between the two countries.
Spokesman for the king, Muhammed el-Mumani explained “The fact the bill applies to East Jerusalem too constitutes a violation of the peace treaty between the two countries regarding Jordan’s responsibility for holy sites in East Jerusalem”.
The PA (Palestinian Authority) also expressed its opposition, stating the bill is nothing less than a “declaration of war”.

Let me understand this. The PA claims Israel is declaring war? What have they been doing since 1948?
Would the Jordanian king be so kind and point out the exact phrase in the agreement which makes them the caretakers of the Palestinians? Soon they’ll state that the elected president is not in accordance with their agreement. Words claims and fabrications. They should be chastised. Israel should ask in public which line in the agreement gives jordan the right to interfere in israeli law.
Has Jordan (actually Transjordan) forgotten how it behave from 1948 till 1967? Not only did it suppress Jews and Judaism, demolishing, attacking and terrorising, but it actually annexed the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Where were the world’s protests then? Britain recognised Jordans annexation. The US accepted it. Jews were banned access to Holy Sites, even if they were foreign tourists.
Interestingly, the Arab League did not accept Jordans grab. Another case of Arab in-fighting.
