Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday morning 11 Adar departed for Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting has two main goals: To continue the ongoing link between Israel and Russia in order to prevent friction in Syria. The Prime Minister will express Israel’s strong opposition to the presence of Iranian forces, and those of its proxies, on our northern border and in the Mediterranean Sea in the context of the talks on a settlement of any kind. The Prime Minister also intends to reiterate to President Putin the fact that the Golan Heights is not part of the discussion on any outline.
Prime Minister Netanyahu will be accompanied by Minister Ze’ev Elkin, Acting National Security Advisor and Head of the National Security Council Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Jacob Nagel, the head of his, staff Yoav Horowitz, Chief of Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Herzl Halevy and his Military Secretary, Brig.-Gen. Eliezer Toledano.
Mr. Netanyahu plans to meet with President Putin during the afternoon hours and then head directly back home.
