Tourism Ministry officials reported on Tuesday that a record-breaking 313,000 tourists entered Israel in March 2010. The number represents a 56% increase as compared to March 2009.
Since January 1, 2010, the ministry recorded 747,000 tourists entered the country, representing a 54% increase since the same time period last year.

The situation is that a lot of the increase has come by tourists coming for a few hours in from Jordan. Our country wants them to come here and stay a few days which translates into more money for Israel. Jordan obviously wants them to stay in Jordan and visit Jerusalem sparingly. This is the real reason that King Abdullah a few weeks ago started talking about our peaceful ties and how it is becoming a problem. $$Money$$ talks. . . Not diplomacy.
While of course it is good news that tourists are going to Israel, I think that there is a very simple reason that it is up so much over last March. Peach and lehavdil the Easter holiday came out in March this year! Did anyone think of that? Let’s see the April numbers.
