A Call From Trump Interrupts Police Questioning Of PM Netanyahu


Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was questioned by police for a fourth time on Monday night, beginning at 5:00PM. Police probed the case involving the Prime Minister allegedly accepting expensive gifts including cigars and champagne. Police are also probing allegations of deals made with associates to the mutual benefit of all involved.

Police Chief Roni Alsheich announced on Monday that the investigation is nearing its end.

There was a break during the hours of questioning when US President Trump phoned to speak to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to again thank the President for his warm hospitality during his recent visit to Washington and expressed his appreciation for the President’s strong statement against anti-Semitism during the President’s speech before Congress last week. The two leaders spoke at length about the dangers posed by the nuclear deal with Iran and by Iran’s malevolent behavior in the region and about the need to work together to counter those dangers.

Police continued questioning Mr. Netanyahu following the call with President Trump, police continued questioning the Prime Minister following the phone call.
