MK (Yahadut HaTorah) R’ Moshe Gafne was inundated with calls and emails on Sunday, people angered and upset over his planned participation in a New Israel Fund event.

As was reported in the past by YWN-Israel, the New Israel Fund is an extremist left-wing organization, affiliated with many organizations that are not perceived as overly sympathetic with Israel’s interests, not to mention the link between the organization and the now-infamous Goldstone Report on the IDF’s Operation Cast Lead.

It appears that Gafne was moved by the outcry, and ultimately, he decided to cancel his appearance in his capacity as chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee.

According to Yoreiach Tucker, a spokesman for the Knesset committee, Gafne was not planning to attend, citing scheduling conflicts as the reason. Nevertheless, Gafne’s name did appear alongside Arab MKs and others planning to attend the function.
