Olmert Promises: No Connection to Holyland Investigation

While a number of prominent individuals are under arrest and house arrest, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert continues with his travels, now in Europe, a reality that has a growing number of Israelis bothered. There is a growing audible call that Olmert return to Israel immediately and face the music regarding the unfolding Holyland investigation, which involves many notables who served during his tenure in Jerusalem City Hall. The main player appears to be Olmert’s longtime friend, confident and partner, attorney Uri Messer. The alleged crimes were committed during Olmert’s tenure as mayor of the capital, yet he insists he has absolutely no connection to the suspected unprecedented bribery that involved NIS tens of millions according to investigators.

In a statement released in Olmert’s name, he expressed surprise over reading reports of the developing case, as well as a denial of any involvement in the criminal activity.

Olmert is in Madrid where he is attending soccer championship matches, known to be an avid soccer fan. Associates of the former PM state “he did not accept any bribes and they are simply trying to pull him into something he is not connected to”.
