One of the topics discussed during the March visit to Ichud Hatzalah Headquarters in Jerusalem by Mayor Nir Barkat included possibly training city inspectors in basic first aid to permit them to respond to an emergency until first responders arrive on the scene.
Mayor Barkat did not waste time and he pushed the plan through, reaching the necessary operative decisions to actualize a plan in which Ichud members will train city inspectors, who are frequently witness to events, and in many cases, are compelled to stand by and wait until help arrives.
Acting on the urging of Ichud leader Eli Beer, the mayor agreed that training his personnel would by a win win situation for all concerned.
