Deputy Health Minister R’ Yaakov Litzman insists that until he read Ynet report, he too was unaware that the liver transplant patient he assisted is a member of the chareidi community.
The case in point refers to a Ynet report carried by YWN-Israel in which Litzman is accused of facilitating the operation, pushing the chareidi man ahead of many others who were entitled to the procedure before him.
In his remarks made in Jerusalem’s Yad Sarah Headquarters in a forum of senior medical community officials, the deputy minister was actually addressing the issue of the bones at the proposed site of the new fortified emergency room for Barzilai Hospital. At the conclusion of his remarks, he stated that Ynet was “quick to attack me” but in reality, he simply responded to a call for assistance, unaware the person involved was a member of the chareidi community.
Regarding the main remarks released by Litzman, he stated that admittedly, he does not excel in public relations but he questioned why the option of a new venue for the proposed site which was acceptable during the Olmert administration is no longer acceptable today, stating it appears the fact that he is a chareidi minister is at the root of the difficulty.
Litzman met in private with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for 40 minutes earlier in the week, explaining Yahadut HaTorah is unwilling to accept a change in the cabinet decision to move the proposed fortified medical structure to a new location, to avoid having to move the bones found on location.

Intereting.
So, Litzman intervenes in a way that he had never done for any other person before, including being mechallel Shabbos and was never told by those who asked him to do this that the young man happened to be connected tot he same political groups that Litzman is connected to!
If Litzman is telling the truth, let’s see him sue YNET for libel, which will force him and YNET to go through discovery.
