According to attorney Itamar Ben-Givir, a memorial in memory of Rabbi Meir Kahane HY”D in Kiryat Arba was taken by “left-wing extremists”. He adds the extremists arrived every Friday to view the area as part of the actions “of the extremist organization, Breaking the Silence, and he feels the memorial was taken two week ago. An official police complaint was filed.
“The lunatic left nestles on the grave of Yasser Ararat and imagines uprooting the tombstone of Rabbi Kahane. It is obscure, the fact that Rabbi Kahane was right. They are learning the hard way that Kahane is not a stone and the path of Rav Kahane is engraved in the Israeli public and well understand that Rabbi Kahane was correct”.
Ben-Givir calls on police to get serious and begin addressing the theft as it should the same way it would address a right-wing hiding a memorial for Yitzchak Rabin. He explains there is no doubt is police did something, including viewing area surveillance footage they would be able to identify those responsible.
He explains that they are now working on a new and larger memorial for the rav so at the end, the opponents to his ideology will be the big losers.
Rabbi Meir Kahane was the founder of the Jewish Defense League as well as the founder of the now-illegal Kach Party. He is a former Member of Knesset who was assassinated during a speaking tour in the USA in 1990.
