After successfully holding a flag march in the Israeli Arab municipality of Um el-Fahm, Baruch Marzel will lead a similar event, this time in the eastern capital, in Silwan and other predominately Arab areas.

While the march has elicited voices of support and protest, with opponents calling the event “provocative” while supporters insist it is the right of citizens to wave an Israeli flag anywhere in the capital; the fact that hundreds if not thousands of police will be on hand to protect Jews who are doing nothing more than walking with the national flag in the capital is a sad reality that should burst the bubble of the self-proclaimed peace camp and Zionists who boast living “freely in the Jewish Homeland”.

The event is set to take place in the coming weeks, backed by a court order, and in addition to regular police forces, border police, Yassam commandos and other specialized forces will be deployed to protect the right-wing marchers.

Left-wing opponents of the event decry the decision to permit the march, warning it will lead to renewed unrests in the capital and possibly bloodshed.
