Addressing the position of Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, who insists the venue of the new fortified emergency room of Barzilai Hospital must be moved, President Shimon Peres on Sunday, erev yomtov, questioned why such a “scandal” had to be created around the project.
The president’s comments coincided with a pre-yomtov visit to Chief Rabbi HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Amar Shlita, explaining that he approached Rav Amar over a year ago to discuss the discovery of bones on the proposed building site, and the Rav stated the bones may be moved to accommodate the fortified building project.
The president rejects Litzman’s insistence that the proposed site is a non-starter because of the discovery of bones, explaining that Rav Amar has approved the move, clearing the way to continue building the fortified wing of the area’s only hospital.
