For outsiders viewing the recent violent protests held by persons identifying with the Peleg Yerushalmi faction, they assume all chareidim back their actions when in fact, the Degel Hatorah faction of the litvish community is vehemently opposed.

Speaking with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Thursday, 20 Shevat, MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Asher stated “This is not Yiddishkheit. We are dealing with a minority extreme fringe faction. This is not our way. We oppose this and all violence – we have the Torah and halacha”.
