Chareidim Cause An Unscheduled Landing Of A Flight From Tel Aviv

1

Police boarded an EasyJet flight that originated in Tel Aviv after it made an unscheduled landing in Luton England to “prevent a possible ‘breach of the peace’ by a group of strictly Orthodox Jewish men”.

According to a Jewish Chronicle report on Wednesday 19 Shevat, the flight in question departed on Monday at 14:55. The problems began when chareidi passengers insisted they be seated next to men and not women. They refused to take their assigned seats. There was a delay as they reportedly blocked the aisle until some females voluntarily agreed to change seats to accommodate them.

The Jewish Chronicle report quoting passengers on the flight states ten men were involved, describing them as “ten men in black hats” who refused to be seated and then blocking the aisle.

Later into the flight, one of the men plugged his cell phone into the control panel area for one of the cabin crew, causing exit lights to turn on. A crew member instructed the man to remove the phone charger, explaining he was compromising the safety of the flight.

The airline said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY2084 from Tel Aviv to Luton on 13 February 2017 was met by police on arrival at London Luton due to a small group of passengers behaving disruptively by not complying with the captain and cabin crew’s request to take their seats both prior to departure from Tel Aviv and during the flight.

“For the safety of all passengers easyJet’s crew must ensure that whenever the seat belt signs are illuminated all passengers are in their seats with their seatbelts fastened.

“easyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Separately during the flight a passenger plugged a mobile device into a USB port on the crew control panel in the forward galley in a foolish attempt to charge it.

“This led to the exit light above the panel being illuminated but did not in any way comprise the safety or security of the aircraft.”

Local police escorted the ten men off the flight. It does not appear that anyone was placed under arrest.

  1. I am sick of these disgusting stories. Stupid, uneducated, ignorant, idiotic, reckless, shameful & Irresponsible.

Which (Chareidi or even Chasidish) Daas Torah in the world, would permit Chilul Hashem?!? over sitting next to a woman??

Get your priorities straight!!! Don’t make up your own narrow minded Chumros!!

These lunatics obviously don”t know or understand the consequences of Chilul Hashem.

    Shame!

    I’m Embarrassed.

  2. We need more shalom in klal yisrael. YWN should care to not even try to chas veshalom hint to any bad on “charedim” or “black hatters”. The Chofetz Chaim writes about being Machshil Harabim. PLEASE DONT COMMENT ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO THIS ARTICLE!!!! PLEASE!!
    WE NEED MASHIACH!!!

    YWN Please be careful. Thanks.

  3. While I fully believe some people might have made a fuss, many others also made a fuss. What’s the difference WHY they wanted to switch seats? If they are asking politely, and there isn’t much of a difference (someone isn’t losing a “preferred” seat), why can’t people accommodate? If it was a mother and child, nobody would have made an emergency landing; people would have willingly complied.

I have no doubt that some “feminists” refused to accommodate SOLELY based on not being DEMEANED by “BACKWARDS” men. No doubt these same people will appropriate hijabs and purport to love and tolerate Muslims – who have no qualms doing the worst crimes to women and considering them subhuman property.

Always question anything in the news that seems to fit the liberal agenda. It most likely is exaggerated and pushed to fit the narrative. It’s how they control the sheeple and keep everyone on the thought-plantation.

Have you ever been asked to change your seat?

Its not only preferred seats that are problematic, some passengers desire aisle seats to stretch cramped legs & knees or need quick access to bathroom facilities. Some passengers need the window seat to lean on, sleep or for solitude. When a passenger must only be seated near a male he has to make those arrangements by buying two seats, asking his travel agent to check out possibilities, buy 3 men seats together or plan responsibly.

  5. There are too many pieces missing from this story for anyone without those missing pieces to have an opinion on this event. If anyone knows the whole story, please report it. Remember, opinion expressed from ignorance tell us more about the speaker than the event.

  6. Number 5 yes on flight to isreal my wife was harrassed by a crummy demanding that she change seats I told him to back off or I would sit him down. He was escourted off plane
    It’s an every day thing

  7. I’m sure chassidus was a good idea in 17th century Europe. I think it’s about time we were machzir atarah leyoshna and revert back to Litvishe yiddishkeit.

  8. My daughter was on this flight. Several corrections. Firstly wasn’t unscheduled stop the final destination was luton. Secondly the problem started because these men wanted to daven mincha & didn’t ask crew if they can so blocked aisles. Some of these men made problems due to seating arrangements. It was unpleasant on both the crews side & due to these men who don’t know proper way to behave in public.

  9. @#11(rebbe) I doubt (yid) it

    Enough with your hatred…

    Litvish people come from Lita.
Others aren’t Litvish they are from wherever they come from.

Did you know that some chareidim aren’t chassidish. That’s right some are litvish….
Go do your research before you talk…

  10. #12 I think it’s high time all yeshivos mandated basic manners and behavior in society. Some people are used to pushing and shoving and do this without thinking while in public as well. Davening on an airplane is a similar disregard for others.

While at an amusement park with my wife on Chol Hamoed, I was pushed by many high-school age girls, (who most likely didn’t realize they were pushing a man) in their haste to meet up with their friends. I believe most of these issues are due to not paying attention to the world.

  11. If it’s because of mincha I’m a little confused because easyjet arranges a mincha on-board. I’m sure there is more to the story. By the way, you say this is reported in the Jew-ish chronical (aka sonei Torah Jews)? Well enough said! You certainly can’t rely on its reporting.

I’m with number 3. All we have done is increased loshon hora regarding frum yidden. What’s the point and what is the value of reporting this? Certainly no points gained “up there”…

  12. Airline aisle seats are very narrow and people davening block the aisle. People might have lots of good reasons to move up and down the aisle and not be encombered by someone davening like going to the bathroom, going to check up on their kids , just to stretch out (This is an issue on planes)

Someones Mincha is not more important than someones elses reasons for needed to walk in the Aisle.

There are alot of reasons why people would not want to move, Maybe they like their seats because of leg room, Maybe their kids or family members are near by.

    Nobody wants a middle seat.

  13. WOW look how much got spoken on this topic. The headline makes me sick. “CHAREDIM”…. i personally dont make switches on flights but who cares. On non jewish sites they disband comments for innapropriate reasons etc…or you can flag an article for a number of reasons… kal vechomer ben bnoi shel kal bechomer YWN a “CHAREDI” news site (u like that:)) should enact the policy of reporting LASHON HARAH afilu birimiza. Enough is enough and comments should forsure be disbanded. Who wants to take achrayus for this on their shoulders??? WE NEED MASHIACH QUICKLY!!

  14. I think the Goyishe news have enough anti Semitic news and we don’t have to add to it. This should not have been reported.

  15. You all want Moshiach? Teach and practice manners and civil discourse. Stop making excuses for uncivil hooligans, regardless of the alleged justifications.

  16. Come on airlines, be accommodating, the first time round, make peace and change the seating instead of causing a “situation”!

  17. #Comfortablyhiemish as a frequent easyjet flyer from Luton to tel aviv I can confirm that easyjet do allow Mincha and are very accommodating to it unlike our “Jewish” airline elal.. However they usually allocate a time for it and I have seen on a number of occasions where they tell people that they are gonna arrange it later but they just get up and try to start there own minyan.

  18. As many frum Jews here in England will tell you, the JC isn’t exactly the UK’s most pro Chareidi newspaper. I strongly suspect that there are some important facts missing from this story.
