Journalist Yotam Feldman, who was arrested trying to infiltrate into Israel from Sinai, was released by Egyptian officials late Sunday night.
Last week, YWN-Israel reported (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=51252) that Feldman was arrested as he tried crossing into southern Israel along with a number of African nationals. It was learned that Feldman crossed into Egypt legally along the Taba Crossing and was involved in a journalistic piece regarding infiltrations from Sinai into Israel when taken into custody.
It appears Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai used his good relations with Egyptian Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman to arrange Feldman’s release.
Feldman told the media on Monday morning that any video footage he gathered for his assignment was confiscated by Egyptian officials. Feldman added the incarceration “was very brutal” and conditions were harsh.
