The Governor of the Bank of Israel, Dr. Stanley Fischer, has announced he will continue on for another term of five years, responding to a request from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Dr. Yuval Shteinitz. The move must be approved by the cabinet, but this is just a formality since the governor enjoys overwhelming support.
Fischer stated that when he began [in May 2005]; he never thought he would be called upon to address a global economic crisis, the likes of which exists today.
