There were conflicting reports on Monday night, with the US State Department indicating Mideast envoy is expected to visit the region, but officials in Yerushalayim on Tuesday morning are indicating such a visit is not imminent.
Later in the morning, it appears the President’s Residence received official word, with the State Department announcing the envoy will not be arriving at present, canceling a planned meeting between Mitchell and President Shimon Peres.
America appears to be pressuring Israel, demanding a retraction from last week’s statement announcing continued construction in Yerushalayim, but statements released by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu over recent days indicate such a retraction is not about to be released. The current administration plans to continue construction in the capital, as has been the case since the liberation of areas of Yerushalayim in the June 1967 war.
It appears that US President Barak Obama’s euphoria is starting to fade and members of Congress are criticizing his harsh tone with Israel while really pressing matters are ignored by the White House. Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are realizing their president is off target, and he is focusing too much energy on demonizing Israel while ignoring key foreign policy matters.
Just last week retired Mossad director, Ephraim Halevy explained in an interview that undoubtedly, the new American president has a definite Islamic agenda, one which places America’s relationship with Israel is a different, more distant place, one that focuses on building Islam and working to change its image in the world.
It would appear that the US president prefers to ignore the simple fact that Islamic terror continues to plague the world, from 9/11 to Osama bin-Laden; from PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) to Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah; from North Korea to Iran; but he nevertheless continues efforts to enhance America’s relationship with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is a true friend and senior member in the Axis of Evil, working hand-in-hand to promote Iran’s anti-Western agenda.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues calling on Israel to “do something significant” to signal Israel’s seriousness regarding talks with the PA. It appears that good-will gestures and land concessions are insufficient as Abu Mazen sits in Ramallah, dividing donor nation funds with his cronies, counting the days until his weak administration is toppled by Hamas. Secretary Clinton’s approach does not come as a surprise, for she is only acting on the very same policy and opinions regarding Israel that she maintained as First Lady during her husband’s tenure as president.
Speaking to Likud faction members at a meeting this week, the prime minister stated that he will continue as has every government since 1967, building in Jerusalem, the capital of the Jewish People.

I can only imagine what the midah keneged midah is for Obama when he declares that which the Torah tells us to do as not legitimate. Perhaps he himself will be found to be illegitmate in some way.
The gloves are off, and Team Obama is at last fulfilling the writing on the wall that 80% of American Jews chose not to see during the last election cycle; Obama, Clinton, Mitchell and Biden are kicking and beating Israel in broad daylight.
Here’s how candidate Joe Biden convinced Jewish suckers to vote Democrat while on the stump in Deerfield Beach, FL in September of 2008:
“I want to remind those of you…who don’t know me and those of you who do know me what my record has been. It has been unstinting in the defense and support of Israel…I give you my word as a Biden, I would not have given up that job to be Barack Obama’s vice president if I didn’t–in my gut, and in my heart, and in my head–know that Barack Obama is exactly where I am on Israel.”
80% of us refused to be warned by the friends, spiritual and political advisors and associates Obama kept. 80% of us declined to heed the message of “tough love” for Israel candidate Obama admitted he was bringing to the Oval Office. And now 100% of Jewry is paying the price for that moral and intellectual failure of 80% of American Jews.
Are you asserting that he’s not a US Citizen? That is enough to undermine the credibility of your statement altogether. Regardless, it is time we acknowledge U.S. national security interests are not the same as Israel’s. Two different nations
Mr. Johnson, are you inferring from your statement that the Saudis and the rest of the countries of the Arabian peninsula are America’s allies and not Israel?
Terrific! Excellent news! Let’s keep building and filling the Jewish state with homes for Jews which will automatically keep those anti-Semites away. Who needs them anyhow and who asked them to visit Israel?
#2, you are right. But if Rudy will not run, there is no one else would would show a favoring hand to Israel. I hate to say it, but perhaps Palin would come out with the strength to stand by Israel, and mean it, but something about her as a candidate also wreaks of not being a seasoned, worldly statesperson.
“Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns it’s lonely eyes to you.” Pinchus Simon
Mr. Johnson, You are absolutely right.
“it is time we acknowledge U.S. national security interests are not the same as Israel’s. Two different nations”
Therefor Israel must do what is in their best national interests as does every other country across the Globe. America has been bullying Israel for years.Jerusalem must be protected. If Mr. Obama does not understand this then its unfortunately his problem not Israel’s. Please do not forget that Israel is America’s most important and dependent ally in the region,America will have to get over it. Bibi has no choice here, Obama does.
Flatbush Bobby — If you read my post correctly and slowly enough, you’d realize that nowhere did I imply (not infer)* that Israel is not an ally of the United States. I simply said that the national security interests of the two nations are not one and the same. To presume the opposite is to be living in a fantasy land. Mother Israel needs the United States than the United States needs Israel.
And for the record, Saudi Arabia is a prominent US Ally. So is Jordan. So is the UAE. So are a host of other Arab states, as well as Israel.
Mitchell
you can stay here in obama country we do not need you on our soul in eratz yishael
How is Israel America’s most important ally in the region? What does the United States gain from allying with Israel? I’d argue that Saudi Arabia is our most important ally. We drive big cars in the United States and needs a steady and secure stream of oil to help fuel our consumption.
And, The FY2010 budget allocates roughly $54 billion dollars in aid to the country. That’s costing us, the tax payers, a lot of money!
It is time that ISRAEL the U.S.’s only true friend and Ally play hardball themselves. ISRAEL should take a stand saying that they have never had such political pressure and manipulation from any former U.S. presidency and staff. It is an affront not only to the people of Israel but to the history of American Presidency who acted more as advisors and go betweens than lobbyists for the muslim nations.
The feelings of insult of the US does not compared to the feelings of insult and betrayal of the Israeli people and all Jews around the world.
Mr. Johnson you are reading from the NY Times script, come up for air and listen well. In the words of veteran Senator from Hawaii Daniel Inouye without Israel The US would be forced to spend billions BILLIONS of dollars every year to build bases in foreign countries, far far more than we give to Israel in aid.By the fact that Israel is the most trusted and loyal ally we have, this country saves billions of dollars every year. I heard those words directly from the Senator himself. His statement was echoed by several other influential lawmakers.
With regards to Saudi Arabia, only a liberal would say publicly that the birthplace of Osama Bin Ladin and the home of the majority of 9/11 terrorist’s are our friend and ally. They never miss an opportunity to hike up the price of oil and our relationship with them is solely because of their fright of Iran and the military protection the US offers. They are not a democracy and their record on human rights is deplorable.
The US is dependent on them for oil so its a marriage of convenience nothing more.
Israel hands down is the best friend this country has in the region. To deny that is to deny that Israel saved thousands of lives by blowing up the Iraqi reactor in 1981. Another action that received unanimous condemnation at the time and proved to be the single most important military action in thirty years.
The United States has more nuclear weapons than the rest of the world, combined. It’s time that we, the United States taxpayers, stop subsidizing our “only best friend” and let them fend for themselves.
I don’t think you should be lambasting The Saudi’s human rights record when Israel used white phosphorous last year in its military campaign against Gaza. The entire world community stood by in horror. And so did I, and I’m a jew! And I voted for Bush, twice!
dON’T UNDERSTAND.Israel needs to give further concessions; pray tel what concessions has abbas give since day 1. When are the arabs that live in Israel stop calling for the destruction of the Jewish state. Enough is enough mitchell we are all happyn if you never come back maybe it will end this so call peace process. It has and i repeat it has never existed
I think I had posted the facts and logic about the middle east website to show how America benefits from Israel. Also, I posted the news of the day link to show how the world benefits from Israel, like that is necessary. But nonetheless, I am not sure if the computer did not take it or if it was deleted. They are fact based supports for my opinion and for the consideration of those who oppose those views in this matter.
#13 if your information is coming from the Goldstone smear report then this conversation sadly comes to a close.
I’m not sure what American nuclear weapons has to do with this conversation. Nuclear weapons has not helped us in Iraq and has been useless in Afghanistan as opposed to Israeli airspace, intelligence ans weapons depot that the Israelis provide to the US 24 hours a day 365 days a year with no questions asked. Have you forgotten that Turkey closed their airspace to us during the invasion of Iraq? Allies you can always depend on no matter what hold priceless value. Israel is the only one we can count on. The argument and debate is useless if you fail to see the unvarnished truth.
personally I agree the Israelis should stop taking American money but America would still bully them either way. That’s what bully’s do!
so america yells about building and israel continues to build….whats new?
why is it that not one major us publication has noted that the suburb of yerushalaim is in an area that the arabs have already conceded do not belong to them?
Hi Mr. Johnson!
I’ve read your postings here with great interest. You’re very knowledgeable about the excesses the Jewish state has taken in overzealously “defending” itself, and thank you for pointing out that so much of the Arab world is actually better aligned with America’s interests than Israel.
You’ve unfortunately been criticized here by some commentors for taking the “New York Times line”, but I don’t know. I think maybe your worldview is formed by maybe something deeper than that. If I may ask, where did you go to Hebrew school, and what prompted you to visit this sort of a rabidly pro-Israel Web site to “speak truth to power”? I’m really curious, and, again, I find your postings refreshing and interesting. I hope you’ll reply.
