Jordan’s King Hussein Pushing the Jordanian Agenda

In this region of the world, the difference between Israel’s moderate neighbors and the radical elements is not their goal, but the means deployed towards achieving this goal, namely, the removal of the Jewish state from the Mideast map. Some use Kassam rockets, rocks and firebombs, and the suit-and-tie leaders use diplomacy and other more legitimate means.

According to a report released in February 2010 by Human Rights Watch, Jordan is systematically revoking citizenship from “Palestinians”, a move officials boast is intended to assist them in staking a claim to return to their homes throughout Yehuda and Shomron, or the “West Bank” as Jordan and Western refer to those areas.

According to a New York Times report quoting Human Rights Watch, Jordan’s King Abdullah II is systematically leaving “Palestinians ousted from the West Bank” after 1967 without Jordanian citizenship, documenting that 2,700 Jordanians have lost citizenship from 2004-2008.

Human rights officials however are unimpressed with the genuine concern exhibited by the Government of Jordan regarding the future of the 2,700, insisting the king is motivated by efforts to reduce the number of “Palestinians” in Jordan, nothing more.

In truth, the real fear of Abdullah is the fact that he is aware Jordan, itself a fictitious entity with a fabricated history, is indeed the legitimate home of the so-called Palestinians and he know this, realizing he must act to change realities before the Arab community demands that he absorb the PA residents, something that would seriously compromise present Jordanian demographics. As such, the Jordanian leader is working to place the pressure on Israel by creating additional refugees, stateless Arabs.

As a result of the revocation of citizenship, these residents of Jordan cannot work, study, obtain healthcare, purchase land or obtain a drivers license.

Interestingly, Abdullah, who frequently releases messages of concern regarding the basic rights of Palestinians in not overly concerned with his own “Palestinian” residents, leaving them stateless and without the means of earning a livelihood with the simple stroke of a pen.

The Times adds, “The government is not doing this to support the Palestinians in their right of return,” said Fawzi Samhouri, director of a human rights organization in Amman, Jordan’s capital. Rather, he said, the government is responding to domestic political pressures because “some people think these procedures will reduce the percentage of the population that is of Palestinian origin.”

In essence, Jordan is carrying on its own intifada, depriving citizens of basic rights, unilaterally revoking citizenship without permitting any recourse.
