Friday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


Vice Premier Moshe Ya’alon’s armored vehicle caught fire on Thursday while he was visiting Beit Aryeh. The minister was not in the vehicle. No injuries were reported and damage was reportedly light. An electrical short is blamed for the fire.

**Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon on Thursday wrapped up his visit to Washington where he met with officials to discuss the Iran situation.

**The IAF during the night targeted a weapons manufacturing plant and smuggling tunnel in Gaza in retaliation for a Thursday afternoon Kassam rocket attack. Hamas reports injuries and at least one fatality.

**The US believes indirect talks between Israel and the PA will begin next week stressing the PA has not formally announced it will not take part in talks.

**Firefighters responded to a blaze in a catering hall inside a shul on Shivtei Yisrael St. in Bnei Brak during the predawn hours. The owner arrived on the scene and was grief-stricken at the sight, resulting in his transport to Maynei HaYeshua Hospital.

**An Israeli was injured lightly in a Thursday night rock-throwing attack in the Beit Haninah area of the capital.

**A memorial and hisorrirus kenos for R’ Menachem Porush will be held on motzei shabbos in the main shul of Kiryat HaYeled in Yerushalayim.
