Chareidi mosdos appear to have become the preferred target of local vandals in Haifa. On Wednesday night, a Vishnitz shul at 1 Michal Street was broken into as well as a Belzer shul in the Hadar area of the city.
According to a HaMevaser report, during the past two weeks, a number of chareidi mosdos in the city were targeted in break-ins.
According one eyewitness, the vandals did not appear at all nervous and they went about their destructive task in a boisterous fashion, speaking loudly and freely with one another. He added the vandals spoke in Hebrew to one another.
He explains he lives opposite the Vishnitz shul, accounting for his ability to see and hear what was taking place. Interestingly, they did not address tefillin that were lying around, but they tried to break into a locked metallic cabinet in which tefillin are stored, most likely in search of money.
He explained another shul in the same neighborhood was targeted last shabbos, but damage in that incident was less significant.
In recent weeks shuls and talmidei torah affiliated with Tzeirei Agudah, Biala, Seret-Vishnitz. Gur, and a sephardi school were targeted in Haifa. In the break-in in the sephardi talmid torah, NIS 25,000 was stolen.
Haifa has become a target of many immigrants from the FSU, non-Jews, hoodlums who happily target yidden as they engage in their anti-Semitic frolicking, sadly with minimal police response.
