In what is a most embarrassing and worrisome case, it is permitted to report that a northern Israel Police weapons storage facility was robbed. Akko Magistrate’s Court Justice Rachamim Tzemach complied with a police request to place a gag order on the details of the theft and ongoing investigation. Deputy Chief of Police Ilan Franco has ordered a special inquiry and the Galil District of Israel Police has been handed the investigation, which appears to surround a major theft of weaponry under the noses of police.
About two weeks ago, another case unfolded, involving eight Western Galil residents including two IDF soldiers, reportedly addressing the theft of weapons from an IDF base in the north, connecting to drug trafficking across the Israel/Lebanon border.
Overseeing the deputy chief’s investigation will be Deputy Central District Commander Moti Cohen, who will be working with a number of other senior officials seeking to probe how the weapons were lifted from a police facility.
The weapons are supposed to be housed in a concrete bunker type facility, chained to one another in the storage facility, surrounded by concrete abutments outside. The theft does point to the involvement of persons on the force, perhaps justifying the court gag order on the investigation.

why don’t police care that they themselves are getting robbed? If they did they would surely have arrested the guy right then and there!
