Security Cabinet to Discuss Missile Threat


The Security Cabinet is expected to convene on Sunday to discuss the growing missile threat facing Israel from the northern border, Hizbullah in southern Lebanon.

Taking part in the meeting with be Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai who is in charge of homefront issues, as well as IDF Northern District Commander Major-General Yair Golan. The ministers will hear about the over 40,000 Hizbullah rockets and missiles pointed at Israel, along with accompanying and related threats involving Syria and Iran.

In a related matter, as was reported by YWN-Israel, the gas mask kits distribution resumed on Purim, a program that is expected to take years until masks arrived in the homes of all Israelis. The first stage is a pilot program to assess effectiveness of the new program. Unlike in previous personal protection kits, this time around, atropine self-injectors will not be included permitting the kits to remain suitable for use for a decade before they require service if unopened.
