The Na’ot HaPisga Modi’in Illit LTD Company has filed the first lawsuit against the government seeking damages resulting in the national government’s 10-month construction freeze. The suit seeks NIS 171 million in damages. The company’s major project in the Shlomo neighborhood of Modi’in Illit entails 2,318 apartments spread over 560 dunams (140 acres), of which 500 are already built and occupied.
The 10-month building freeze throughout Yehuda and Shomron comes after the IDF regional commander froze building as well, in that case, due to disputes surrounding the partition fence and the border demarcation to the adjacent PA village. Attorney Uri Arad explains that the latest government decision simply resulted in a major blow to the company, which is now incurring major losses.
