A Jerusalem resident in his 40s was taken into custody, suspected of sending the toy gun in an envelope to Minister Dr. Benny Begin.
In a strange chain of events, the suspect entered a police station to file a complaint regarding a stolen teudat zehut identity card, and to his misfortunate, it was the same station investigating the toy gun threat. The officer taking the complaint realized the handwriting matched that of the envelope with the gun, placing the suspect under arrest.
He admitted to sending the toy gun, explaining “the government owes him money”. He was taken before a remand hearing in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.
