Products from Yehuda and Shomron to Be Taxed in EU

The European Union is moving ahead with sanctions on goods manufactured in yishuvim throughout Yehuda and Shomron. The EU Supreme Court on Thursday ruled in the case of the Soda Club Company, based in Maale Adumim, that a tax benefit would be removed, resulting in an additional tax on all goods manufactured over the Green Line.

The ruling in essence abolishes a tax break that was in effect previously, placing goods from yishuvim in a non-competitive category, now having to face additional surcharges. The ruling also includes communities in the Golan Heights, viewed as occupied by the EU community. The ruling represents a significant blow to business in Yehuda, Shomron and the Golan Heights, signaling the turning trend against Israel in the international community.
