Some Dubai Assassins Carried Diplomatic Passports

According to Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan, some of the assassins involved in the January assassination of Mahmoud a-Mabhouh in a Dubai hotel room used diplomatic passports. While Chief Khalfan remains somewhat closed-mouthed regarding new developments in the case, he hinted at the fact that there were two additional assassins over the 11 originally discussed, apparently using Irish passports.

Officials involved in the investigation seem to now believe there were indeed 17 members of the team as was mentioned in earlier  reports, and the addition six [over the 11 whose photos were released] may have used diplomatic passports.

The United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Minister summoned the ambassadors of the European nations involved by the fraudulent use of their passports, including the UK, Germany, Ireland and France. Khalfan is referring to the assassination as a “security issue for the European community”.

From Khalfan’s point of view, the Mossad is responsible for the assassination despite the fact that Israel remains silent, not accepting responsibility amid growing accusations. Khalfan is also playing up matter by condemning the use of passports of “close ally” nations, seeking to mount a coalition against Israel, an effort that to date has been largely successful due to the disclosure of the use of the European passports.

  1. 1. Countries closely track diplomatic passports (as well as official passports). If someone shows unexpected up in Dubai (or any other country) with a diplomatic passport, it calls attention to themselves. It sounds like someone trying to be caught, which is not the Mossad’s style.

    2. If European Union countries believe Israel faked their passports, it could lead to serious sanctions. So far, the argument that the Mossad was involved is based on the idea that Israel wanted the guy dead (at least as revenge for attacks he carried out in the past though he seems to be more of a pencil-pusher as of late), that it conforms to the Mossad’s PR image, and Israel doesn’t confirm or deny the rumor (“like duh”). An alternative hypothesis as that someone wants to make Israel look bad, and the whole thing is a set up.

  2. Dumb question of the day – How come nobody pays any attention to the Israeli mission that went to Haiti and likley outperformed any country in the world, when technically; with Israel so far away they had no real right going there, and to Dubai, where Israel has EVERY human right to revenge this monster, is the world giving Israel all this attention? (extra credit: what are the chances of Israel getting a Nobel peace prize for their life saving efforts in Haiti?)

  3. Does not sound like a Mossad hit. too sloppy, cameras all around, using 15-19 people, could even be a Dubai hit. Let’s face it he was not a lamid vav tzaddick. He had a price tag on his head a long time. Could be somebody was paid to send him to the world of 72 virgins. He found the truth he was fighting for a lost cause. The whole world and i repeat the whole world is better today with out him
