The weekly cabinet meeting this Sunday will move from Jerusalem to Tel Chai, near the Lebanese border in Kiryat Shmona. The symbolic act marks 90 years since the battle in which Yosef Trumpeldor was killed in Tel Chai.
During the meeting, the ministers will approve two new plans, the refurbishing of the National Library in Jerusalem as well as adopting a plan to refurbish 150 national heritage sites. This list includes archaeological sites, museums and sites of Zionistic prominence. The plan for the National Library entails finding a new home for the facility. The current building holds millions of books but since 1998, there has been talk of establishing a new structure, one that befits the significance of the National Library. This however has never been actualized due to a lack of funding.
Minister of Religious Services Yaakov Margi is calling to expand that list, to include religious sites as well, stating that most unfortunately; the Ma’arat HaMachpelah in Chevron has been excluded from the list.
