US Removes Syria from List of Dangerous Countries

The US administration has taken a major step toward legitimizing the regime of Syrian leader President Bashar al-Assad, removing Syria from America’s list of dangerous nations, such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Syria does however remain on the list of “terror supporting nations”, with Damascus earning its slot on that list back in 1979, resulting in Syria’s strong ties with Iran and Hizbullah. President Barak Obama renewed sanctions against Syria in May 2009.

The Syrian leader has recently met with US Undersecretary of State William Burns in the hope of expanding dialogue between the two countries.

  1. We have to finally come to the realization that some people want us dead and being nice to them or giving them money will just lead to them killing us. If we knew that they stopped hating us I can understand this move but Syria has not changed they are the same dangerous country and pretending that this isn’t the case just puts our lifes at stake.

  2. Where are the source for this article? Who said that Syria was removed from any lisst? True there have been some talks, but that is normal diplomatic stuff. The US still does have diplomatic relations with Syria, unlike Iran.
