Shas faction members on Monday reaffirmed their support for party leader R’ Eli Yishai regarding the party’s decision to join the World Zionist Organization. The Shas faction members stated they too are outraged by the scathing attacks appearing in a “certain newspaper” and are even more outraged regarding the words used against the Maran Rav Ovadia Shlita and the party rabbonim.

Yishai thanked his colleagues for their support but reminded them the decision was not his, but that of the rabbonim. He added that at present, the matter is not being discussed, indicating there would soon be a meeting during which the entire matter will be explained to them in detail.

According to a Ladaat report, as a result of the unrelenting offensive against Shas in that certain newspaper, many members of the Sephardi chareidi community have informed the newspaper they are no longer interested in receiving it in their mailboxes.
