A Bedouin resident of the Negev village of Hura, known to be mentally unstable, jumped the Gaza border fence on Tuesday, disappearing into the Hamas-controlled area.
The family explained that while this was his first successful attempt to cross into Gaza, he has tried in the past.
With the help of MK Talab al-Sana, the family managed to have the man escorted back into southern Israel unharmed. Al-Sana told the Israel media that he spoke with an aide to Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah.
