One of the prominent guests at this week’s special Knesset session marking the parliament’s 61st anniversary was Rav Menachem Porush, the elder statesman of Agudas Yisrael, who was accompanied by former National Religious Party MK Yigal Bibi.
The two discussed a number of current events issues, including Shas’ decision to join the World Zionist Organization. Bibi was tapped by Shas to represent the chareidi party in the WZO. Rav Porush called for releasing a statement that there is no connection to the organization’s Zionist ideology.
R’ Porush added that Agudah can also make the same move, prompting Bibi to respond that “there will be a new framework and Agudah will also be able to join”.
Rav Porush granted an interview with Kav HaChadash, during which he mentioned the funds received for a 20 year period from the Jewish Agency, adding he was sorrowed over the attacks leveled against Shas (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=45662) for its decision to enter the WZO.

Once again we see the wisdom of Maran Harav Shach Z.Ts.L. in starting Degel HaTorah.
Rav Porush (who interestingly always was a strong opponent op P.A.J. because of their tendency to Zionism)gave away the reason of his statement: the funds received for a 20 year period from the Jewish Agency! Hakesef ya’aneh es hakol.
So, what they are saying is, is that once again Degel HaTorah and the Yated Ne’eman have been speaking for no-one but themselves, and making a huge chillul H’ by speaking out against Rav Ovadia Yosef shlit”a
it’s ridiculous to base anything on this so-called “statement” by Porush. Besides him being very old and not so with-it, even the idea that he actually said anything at all is based on total hear-say…
