Dubai Officials Unwilling to Cooperate with Hamas

Dubai investigators are not cooperating with Hamas, unwilling to permit representatives to take part in the investigation into the death of senior Hamas terrorist Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, who was found dead in his luxury Dubai hotel room last week, with Hamas blaming the Mossad with another successful assassination.

According to the al-Shark al-Awsat Arabic newspaper, Dubai police are planning to work with the Palestinian Embassy in Dubai, which represents the official entity recognized by the government. “Other private officials will not be recognized” the newspaper quotes a local police commander, Dahi Halfan as saying.

It would appear the police commander’s statements are in direct response to Gaza Hamas official Iman Taha, who announced he plans to send his own investigation team to get to the bottom of the incident, hoping to work with local authorities.

Regarding reports that an attempt against Mabhouh was made a number of months ago in Dubai, Halfan discounted the accuracy of the statements, insisting if that were the case, his department would have information, which it does not.

Asked if the fingerprints of the operation point to Israel’s Mossad, Halfan stated what he can say is that it appears the team of assassins numbered seven individuals, including some possessing European passports.
