Two Mosque Suspects Released to House Arrest

The Petach Tikvah Magistrate’s Court released two suspects to house arrest in the arson attack case. Tzvi Sukkot and Shlomo Gilbart were ordered released by the court despite a police request to extend their remand. They join the list of other suspects allegedly connected to the December 2009 arson attack against the Yusuf village mosque.

The two are prohibited from contacting one another and are remanded to house arrest for 60 days.

Last week, authorities were compelled to release a number of other suspects, including Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=46497), who police allege knew of the planned attack in advance and did nothing to prevent it and it aware of those responsible. The rabbi denied the charges and the court ordered his release since police lacked evidence to support their allegations.
