Rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Ohd Yosef Chai Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira was released from detention after a state appeal seeking to overrule a magistrate’s court decision to release him was rejected.
Jerusalem District Court Justice Yoram Noam ruled on Thursday that there was no compelling evidence against the rabbi justifying his continued incarceration. The court rejected the state’s contention that he was guilty of sedition.
Police arrested the rabbi, alleging he knew of the planned arson attack against a Yusuf mosque in advance but remained silent, adding they believe he knows who is responsible for the attack.
