While IDF Northern District Commander Major-General Gadi Eisenkott calls statements of an imminent military conflict with Hizbullah and increasing northern border tensions “virtual reality”, the Arabic daily al-Shark al-Awsat reports Syria is activating military reserves and Hizbullah remains on heightened alert status, as was reported earlier by YWN-Israel.

Hizbullah continues to warn of an imminent Israeli strike in Lebanon, timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the assassination of senior Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyeh, targeted in car bomb attack in Syria. Hizbullah continues to blame Israel’s Mossad Intelligence Agency for that fatal attack.

The Arab media continues to focus on recent major IDF exercises and simulations conducted along the northern border, with IDF General Staff members repeating these were nothing more than routine training operations intended to keep forces on alert and to maintain Israel’s deterrence abilities.
