MK (Yisrael Beitenu) Hamas Amar is presenting a bill demanding the installation of countdown timers on the nation’s traffic signals, a reality that exists in many countries, with the MK stating they have proven to be effective towards avoiding accidents and saving lives.
Amar explains the timers give motorists a real indication of when a traffic signal will change, calming motorists down and avoiding miscalculations which lead to accidents.

I have never seen this anywhere – except maybe in one single country for pedestrians only, at one place.
In which ‘many countries’ does this exist?
I propose a different way to prevent traffic accidents: beat every traffic violator (who drives through a red light) until he regrets it so much that he will NEVER do it again. Sounds a lot cheaper to me.
