Jews are accusing Arabs and left-wing activists of another act or provocation while Arabs are pointing an accusing finger at Jews and the IDF, referring to a vandalism attack in an Arab cemetery in the village of Awarta. The Arabs claim that not only did Jews smash three tombstones and spray English, Hebrew and Russian graffiti on tombstones; this was done while IDF escorts observed. Jews of course claim the accusations are absurd, since it is clear IDF soldiers escorting Jews in the area would never tolerate such an act.

Organizers of the visit to the area, which was coordinated with the IDF in advance, stress the allegations are indeed absurd, explaining great efforts are expended to ensure no damage comes to the area, including leaving litter and trash behind.
