The Ministerial Ceremonies Committee met and has decided this coming Independence Day, Israel’s 62nd, will be marked by highlighting it coincides with the 150th birthday of Binyamin Ze’ev Herzl.

The government’s theme surrounding the annual event will focus on Herzl and “his vision for the Jewish Homeland” as the ministers explained.

  1. For a Torahdike documentary on Herzl, see the shofar.net website (click on translated videos-english). It’s called ‘Herzel and Zionism’. It has the real facts.

  2. OK Yechial, enough is enough.

Kindly change your website name to hesderyeshivaworld news. Your worldview when it comes to the Medina is all wrong. How can you refer to R. Druckman as Shlita, when there are all sorts of allegations against him regarding his actions as head of conversion authority. Who cares about how/what will be the “celebration” of the 62th anniversary of what the Chazon Ish called beginning of another Galus ? Your commentary during the Gaza War was straight from the pages of Arutz 7, praising the fact that there were so many frum soldiers involved, and that is becoming more acceptable. I could go on and on. Where did you get your hashkofohs from ? Straight from The Mizrahi party platform ?

Just come clean, be straight with your audience, and change your name, to Arutz 7-B, YUnews or something more honest.

  3. Herzl’s idea for a Jewish homeland was somewhat
to the left of Meretz. Perhaps there is a Neturei Karta mole in the government who is trying to make the government look silly.

  4. Herzl was a mushchas.
His name should not even be mentioned or remembered.
His original plan to stop anti-semitism was NOT a homeland in Israel,
it was for all Jews to convert to xtianity!!!
It was only when he saw the huge opposition to that, that he went to a plan B.

  5. #2 I agree wholeheartedly. This site used to be a place I would feel comfortable reading, as it conformed with my hashkafos as a member of the yeshiva world. Lately it has taken a 180 degree turn and seems to cater to a different crowd.
