10:30AM IL: According to foreign media reports, an Iranian nuclear expert, Professor Masud Mohammadi, was assassinated in an explosion near his Tehran home earlier Tuesday morning.
The state-run Iranian news agency reports an explosive device was attached to the victim’s motorcycle and it detonated shortly after he left home, apparently on his way to work. The victim was a nuclear physicist associated with Tehran University, and according to US intelligence reports, they believe he was connected to Iran’s nuclear program. While Iran is not confirming this, Mohammadi was known as a major supporter of the revolution which toppled the shah in 1979, clearing the way for the Islamic fundamentalist regime.
An Israel Radio Reshet Bet report states that some sources in Iran are pointing a finger of blame at Israel, calling the explosion an Israeli assassination. There has not been any comment on the reported explosion from official sources in Jerusalem.

Isn’t this a usual firsst reaction from Iran? Always blame Israel. If only the Mossad was that good.
Good, let Israel take responsibility regradless. Send the world a message that they won’t sit by idly and watch as Iran ignores the world. We live in a world of “kol d’alim gvar” – whoever is stronger rules.
the iranian government does have a ‘no first strike’ policy, and at no time in modern history has iran ever launched the first strike. that being said, they do have foreign proxies which are used as pawns against their enemies, e.g. hizbollah, hamas..etc.
this may have been an iranian attempt to start a war with israel, killing the professor in an israeli style assassination, in order to cause a strike against israel to be acceptable.
Anyone surprised? Who else do you think they’d blame?
ny100k, I agree with you and disagree with hanavon. Let Israel be the one who is at blame for this. So be it!
