A number of chefs in the Israel Arab municipality of Abu Gosh set a new Guinness record for humus.
One of the chefs taking part in the event, which took place in front of hundreds of Abu Gosh residents and visitors boasted the best humus in the world, even better than Lebanon, reclaiming the world record. The chef, Jawdatt Ibrahim, who manages the Humus Abu Gosh restaurant, is known in the region for his humus.
Lebanon recently stole the Israeli record by tripling the previous record-breaking humus platter, but the Abu Gosh chefs brought the prize back to their community with this last effort. The chefs used a satellite dish on loan from a TV network, generating over 4 metric tons of humus. The successful effort snatched the title from Lebanon, earned in October. The humus platter weighed in at 4,090 kg (9,017 lbs). Judging the event was Guinness adjudicator from London, Jack Brockbank.
Unfortunately, there was no hechsher on the humus.
