According to a report in the weekly German Der Spiegel publication, Hizbullah is working to smuggle cocaine into Europe towards using the handsome profits to fund its terrorist network.

Officials in May 2008 found no less than € 8.7 million in cash in the suitcases of members of a Lebanese family known to maintain ties Hizbullah. They were nabbed in a Frankfurt airport. In October 2009, two other Lebanese nationals were arrested in the case during a raid involving police and customs agents in the same city.

Officials believe, according to the report, that the profits from drug trafficking are being transported to Lebanon, eventually to the hands of Hizbullah to assist in funding the terrorist entity.
