US Mideast envoy George Mitchell is scheduled to return to the region in the coming days, to give another push towards compelling the jumpstart of diplomatic talks between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority). Speaking on America’s PBS TV, the senior emissary stated he plans to come to the region to advance talks on several tracks, including political, security and economic.
He explained the White House’s policy, setting a two-year deadline for the renewed talks, during which time the core issues must be resolved. He expressed optimism that the mission may be accomplished in less time.
Mr. Mitchell appears so optimistic that he believes there is no reason that diplomatic talks can continue simultaneously on the Syrian track and PA tracks.
