Wednesday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


An Arab male taking part in rock-throwing attacks against Israeli vehicles in the Gush Etzion area was apprehended by IDF soldiers.

**At least 25 Arabs were wounded by gunfire in a shootout with Egyptian forces along the Rafiach border, in the al-Arish area. At least one Egyptian officer was killed.

**Former President of the High Court of Justice Prof. Aaron Barak stated Israel must end the boycott of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, explaining joining the court would place Israel among the “enlightened nations”.

**A 30-y/o Hamas terrorist was sentenced to 6 years in prison for planning a terror attack against IDF soldiers. The light sentence by the Beersheva District Court was the result of a plea bargain agreement because the state could not prove all the charges against the defendant.

**A 35-y/o Jerusalem Municipality inspector was arrested and suspected of accepting NIS tens of thousands in bribes to issue business licenses.

**Explosions were heard between 10:00am-4:00pm in the Beersheva area as a result of controlled tests carried out by Israel Military Industries.

**Swastikas were painted on the archeological park in the north. A complaint was filed with Tiveria police.

**Gan Eden is the name of the latest unauthorized outpost, established on Tuesday in protest against the building freeze. The outpost is near Mitzpei Yericho.
