Speaking with Kol Chai Radio on Wednesday, Jerusalem Councilman (Likud) Elisha Peleg, who is a member of the city’s planning board, explained the United States would serve her own interests by concerning itself with problems at home, not with Israeli construction in Jerusalem or elsewhere.

Peleg stressed the days of a imperia are over, and Israel is a sovereign nation and as such, will make decision regarding construction without seeking American approval.

Peleg added the policy of Mayor Barkat and his administration is to continue building, without discrimination, in the Jewish and Arab sector alike, within the framework of the law and the United States simply has not business trying to dictate such policy.
